Summary
Hermann's face is actually the first indicator he gets that something's wrong. He goes all scrunched up and sour when something's not quite right, like he can taste it in the air. Maybe he can. He always thinks Hermann looks sort of amphibious, really.
"Oh, uh," she coughs. "I'm really sorry, but for some reason, the booking only seems like it was made for one of you?"
Newt blinks. "Huh?"

When a conference mix-up forces them to share a bed, Hermann and Newt reminisce about their old letters, stand outside in the cold, and realise that while some things have changed since they were pen pals, not everything has.

He's not just talking about the flat. He hopes Newt doesn't know that.

Newt's no longer being controlled by the Precursors, but that doesn't mean he has a place to go, or an idea of what to do. Hermann, luckily, has a spare room, a listening ear, and twenty years of pining under his belt.
Recovery, they both find, is rarely linear- and the world never quite stops feeling like it's ending.

He doesn't blame Newton for asking. He blames him for being right.Newt dresses up in one of his old suits, and they both work through some feelings. (Amongst other things.)

Summary
At some point Hermann’s hand had migrated to the peak of his back, and Newt focused on the feeling of each thin fingertip like an anchor on his skin. After several minutes, Hermann spoke.
“I’ll be honest,” he said, voice calm in a way Newt didn’t know whether to believe or not, “this wasn’t how I expected us to meet again.”
Newt managed a dry half-chuckle. “No fucking kidding.”
When an accident (please, God, don't ask) sets Newt free from the Precursors without warning, there's clearly only one thing to do: find Hermann, get his (???) life together (to like, a point), and pretend none of this shit ever happened. Oh, and make sure nobody ever finds out about the whole possession thing. It's cool. He's cool. Newt's coping.
(He's not.)

Summary
When Hermann begins to investigate Aperture Science, all he wants to do is find answers, find a cure for this apocalypse, find Newton. He doesn’t expect to become trapped in an underground lab facility in the process. But if the truth comes at a price, then Hermann is willing to pay it if it means getting a certain, infuriating biologist safe and back above ground.
Crossover with the video game Portal, though knowledge of that universe is not necessary to read. My fic for the 2014 Pacific Rim mini bang, with beautiful art work by eltsia.

Summary
“Oh my God,” Newton whines from somewhere near the top of his range. His eyes are shut tight, hips twitching underneath Hermann’s hand. A deep, crimson blush has spread down to his shoulders, and his toes are visibly curling from the effort it takes not to finish himself off. “Oh my God, I hate you actually. What the fuck. You can’t just say that shit!”
“Mm, I can,” Hermann nearly purrs, and swipes his thumb across Newton’s bottom lip. “But this can all be over if you just admit I’m right. Two words.” He smirks. “And something nice about yourself. To call it even.”
Hermann, in his professional, husbandly opinion, thinks Newton could do with a little positive self-talk, and he's willing to do just about anything to prove he's right.
