Summary
Thirty-odd years after time was turned back, the war is won, the Monarchs are dead, and Jin-Woo is… no longer human, long since broken down into something Other, and then risen again as his own monster-god. He feels that more on some days than others, with an ever-growing army of dead at his back and the rest of eternity laid out in front of him, and not much attachment left to anyone or anything beyond a handful of individuals he still considers his.
His to guard, his to keep, his to hoard, because once upon a time in another life, they were friends and allies and almost-enemies who'd each glimpsed at least a little of his shadow-drenched inheritance. They'd looked into the void of his dominion, however unknowingly or even unwillingly, and Jin-Woo has never been all that good at letting go.
(Besides, one could definitely argue that this wasn't all on Jin-Woo alone. Woo Jin-Chul definitely helped goad him into it.)

"Why ever would you want to undo your work?” Another angel questions with a shrug, a long silver trumpet in each hand, to be blown at the world’s end. “No one will remember any of this but you. Will you live forever forgotten, O Child of Shadows?”
Jin-Woo thinks of his mother in their old apartment, waiting forever for a man burned to ashes. Thinks of Park Gi-Sool and the second child he never saw come into the world- imagines his wife opening the door for her husband only to be greeted by a man in black with a folded flag. If he could undo this- any of this- it would be worth it. (For he’s always been Sung Jin Woo at his core, no matter how much the Architect tried to wipe him blank, and Sung Jin Woo cares even if Ashborn doesn’t.)
“Yes,” he replies.
