    “I tried having sex with Mianmian.”

    Tried.  As in, Wei Ying had not succeeded.  He looked again at Wei Ying, and the little things began to stitch together, puzzle pieces falling into place.  Because Wei Ying was still sitting there, all curled up like he was afraid of being stabbed if he showed his belly.  Never mind that Lan Zhan felt like he made the mistake of baring his own and got gutted for the effort.

    Ignoring his bleeding gut wound with not insignificant effort, he said, “'Tried'?”

    Wei Ying swallowed, his throat and jaw working like he was struggling to get the words out.  He tensed, shoulders rising up to his ears.

    “It … it wouldn't — wouldn't get hard,” he whispered.

    Luo Qingyang offers to take Wei Ying's first time.  He agrees.  He's horrified to discover he can't get it up.  Frightened and emotional, Wei Ying flees.  This story is about where Wei Ying goes and what he does.

Perhaps it wasn't entirely out of the blue, as Shen Yuan had met his unfortunate end after having an asthma attack in the deep end of a wave pool, and yes that was absolutely humiliating and Shen Yuan had wanted to die– but then he did! He did die, an ugly, drowning mess, and no one had noticed until it was too late and that was fine but still!

     

    Why! Was! He! An! Overgrown, over-glorified, stupid fucking seahorse!?!

    Shen Yuan transmigrates into a world that is not PIDW, nor any book he's ever read. He's highly unqualified to deal with this new, unfamiliar life, so won't the universe just give him a break?!
