He'd hoped that by keeping his head down, his compliance and perseverance would eventually soothe the team's hurt feelings. But nothing had changed and it became harder and harder to keep on fighting.
'It took too much energy just getting out of bed and dragging himself to the station every shift. The cold shoulders, the snide remarks, the hateful pranks. It had been a fight just getting through the day and keeping himself together. Maybe if he'd been able to see Christopher...

He would like a refund for the past 24 hours, please and thank you.
With one of his best friendships imploding, a ladder truck exploding seems about par for the course. It does put things into perspective, though. And it's not a nice view.

"Uhh, Peter." Neal took a few more hesitant steps into the room, noting the four shooting lanes stretched out some 50ft into the distance. "I really don't think using me as target practise is allowed."
"Don't tempt me." Peter muttered under his breath, although Neal still heard.
The FBI agent checked through a pile of supplies on the back table, extra clips for a gun, fresh paper targets in different sizes, headphones and safety goggles.
Okay, now Neal was desperate enough to ask directly. The lingering smell of gunpowder in the air was doing strange things to his head.
"Seriously, what are we doing here?"
Peter stopped what he was doing, turned and frowned when he noted his CI's hesitance.
"Neal, I'm not going to shoot you for god's sake."
Or Peter decides Neal needs some training if he's going to keep ending up around guns, he takes him to the FBI firing range. Set late Season 1.

This is a silly little crossover fic that would not leave me alone after I binged all of White Collar, so here you go.
Basically, Spencer and Neal had a little more than a one-night stand when Spencer was working on his first PhD and just before Neal went to New York. After not seeing each other in years, they reunite by chance because there's a combination art heist and murder investigation in New York that the White Collar division and BAU must work together on. After being cleared of any injuries from the warehouse fire, Buck is surprised to find his parents waiting for him at the firehouse. He didn't particularly want to see them, not after showing him they didn't love him, after finding out about an older brother he never knew existed, how they were treating Maddie. But he was tired of feeling hurt by their choices and words. They hadn't ever really been his parents, anyway.
Maybe it was time to show them as much.
