She tries to make her words sound like a warning, but her voice is too unsteady. She straightens her spine, forcing herself not to cower, though she grips the strut for courage, trying to take refuge in the hum of the TARDIS. Do something, she silently pleads.
Aloud, she says, "If there's something you want—if you're in trouble—we can help you, just bring the Doctor back."
Lines deepen in the man's face as he frowns. But he stays where he is, to her relief.
"That’s very kind of you, but I am the Doctor."

The conversation about bikes had broken something in Jacob's brain, clearly, because we'd just been sitting there in the shed-turned-garage—me, flopped on the couch, as usual; Jake, hunched over a project, as usual. And we'd been talking in that perfectly comfortable way we had, where we could be saying absolutely nothing of value and neither one of us would care, because we were just like that. As usual.

Damon remembers a time when he was rather precious about that kind of thing. He used to siphon all the gas out of the tank of Stefan's car for lesser offenses—washing colors and whites together; forgetting to hang dry. He once de-alphabetized Stefan's entire bedroom library because his brother "borrowed" his Berluti Oxfords and forgot to return them. So, in general, he is, yes, fussy—and yes, fastidious.
But that was before he owned a bar. That was before he discovered how sticky the human world tended to be.

Summary
Damon returns from the 1994 prison world only to find out that his girlfriend doesn't remember him anymore. Or does she? A rewrite of Season 6, of sorts. Very Delena-centric. It's all about the epic love that refuses to be forgotten. Very smutty at times, but it's not the main focus of the story. Still, if you're not into smut within a plot, this is not the story for you. Some changes to season 6 storyline, mostly concerning the timeline. A sequel is in the works.
