Summary
“The Riley family house…” Gaz said quietly, shuffling in his spot in the backseat. “It can’t be much different from our usual cases, can it?”
“Well, everyone so far has left running from that place. Even the shadows couldn’t handle it.”
“Graves?” Soap said, leaning as far forward as the seatbelt allowed him to, much more interested.
“Let’s just say his American spirit left him temporarily.”
“He died?” Soap’s mouth fell to the floor as a raw chill shook his body.
“… For a short period.”
Soap tried to swallow, his throat dry. Graves and his team were just as good as them with the paranormal, both of them specialised teams that worked with ghosts and all that came with them on the regular.
Death was normal in their line of work, it was a risk that came red underlined with the position. Sometimes spirits got rough and most of the time they wouldn’t hesitate to throw you around like a rag doll, possess you, terrify you, all to gain back some part of themselves. What was murder to the dead anyway?

“See that?” Soap pointed at the sky, feeling warm despite the cold air. “That’s the Ursa Major star cluster.”
“Where?” Ghost whispered, shuffling so close to Soap that their knees knocked sending a shiver up his spine.
Soap huffed, reaching over to gently knock Ghost’s chin to the left, his fingers tingling with the contact. “There.”
“…It kinda looks like a cooking pot.”

Summary
Soap had never experienced a mission go so wrong so fast. Even after Las Almas, where trust was destroyed and his life was forfeit, he still believed he could, or at the very least, his friends could make it out alive. Now, separated and alone, the only thing left Soap had of his teammates, his friends, were their screams over the comms.
Alternatively, Soap and Ghost go on the run.

Summary
He’d been avoiding Ghost, planning on continuing to do so until he could sort out his thoughts and feelings regarding the man, preferably, shifting them into something less intimate.
Evidently, he’d run out of time and Ghost had found a way to pin him down, literally and metaphorically.

Summary
“Where are you going so early, then?”
“On an exploring journey,” he replies, face comically serious as he corrects the hat on his head. “I’m going to exca- exac- to dig,” he eventually settles on, patting the side pocket on his rucksack where the plastic handle of a garden trowel pokes out.
