    Living underneath the city is a family of escaped lab rats who had no say in how they were changed, or for what purpose. But together they live free.

    Summary

    The lowlands were still lazing around in the last days of summer, but this morning Usagi had found himself walking into a burnished mountain autumn that could have come straight from his teenage years with Katsuichi-sensei. The trees had been red and gold, leaves falling thick enough to choke the stream beside the road, and the sky overhead a bright and cheerful blue as the paint on fine porcelain. Usagi went slowly, trying to commit it all to memory. It made his hands itch for paint and paper, but those were hard to come by on the road. Besides, he was in no hurry. He could afford to take time to admire the scenery now for the chance to paint it later.

     

    And the weather stayed fine until he was out the other side of the valley and Usagi continued on.
