Poor Edward was clearly about to burst at the seams. They'd only been playing chess for the last five minutes, but it was clear that he was more hot under the collar than usual. Not that Alex would bring it up, surely, but it was plain to anyone with eyes. His chest rose and fell with the effort of concentrating on the game at hand.
His eyes, the symbol of his lineage, shined in the candlelight as they flickered between the piece in his hand and Alex himself. He placed the bishop haphazardly on the board. Well, at least he knew to move it diagonally.
