Long years ago, the whole of the House of Lords was given wings and the gift of immortality. Over the centuries, Fairyland can grow dull, and every so often a fairy or two will make their way into the mortal world. Whether they cause the antics that inevitably ensue around them, or are simply good at finding trouble, their tales have been told many times. Perhaps Mr. W. S. Gilbert and Sir Arthur Sullivan were fairies themselves, or perhaps they happened upon their collection of stories by pure fanciful chance: whatever the origin, the pair's operettas will forever be linked by their exploration of some small parts of the extended lives of these fae.
