His role, his purpose, expanded so abruptly, only to be reduced in half the time. Even Zelda’s efforts to settle the Surface, though an adequate rebound for the first few months, have all but lost their edge. Link will help clear trees, stock lumber, dig trenches, transport supplies, and so on, grasping vainly for some renewed sense of meaning – and all the while lapsing into patterns, scurrying about in circles until the motions cease to be anything more.

This story is far superior to the last two seasons of the actual show. Multiple plotpoints weave consistently together, nothing left dangling or thrown in for unnecessary shock value. Absolutely KILLER characterization that makes me smile every time. Cannot recommend enough!

Lotor’s tongue curled around the words – reverently, salaciously – rolling off the R in a way that sounded to Allura almost like a purr.
“It’s a hallowed tradition,” he said. “Dating back so many deca-phoebs that not even Dayak could tell you when it began.”“I’d rather you didn’t mention Dayak while we’re discussing things of this…nature,” she muttered, and a chuckle escaped under his breath. A moment later, his fingertips grazed over her cheek, his palm cupping the curve of her jawbone.
He waited until she looked up and met his eye, and then said, “I would never make you do this, Allura. Not if you weren’t absolutely sure.”
She let a smirk tug at the corners of her mouth. “Having second thoughts, are you?” That made his eyes gleam, his thumb catching the swell of her cheek, just under her right mark, as his other hand curled against her spine.
“About you? Never.”

Summary
Link is moved from foster home to foster home ever since his parents died in an accident when he was 8. He is now 16, and hasn't spoken in 8 years. Deemed a trouble child, he has no hope of ever settling down or being adopted, until Gaepora takes him under his wing. Zelda and Zant are both excited to have a younger brother, and Link is happy to be apart of a family once again. The only person who is less than pleased with the newest member of the Skyward family is Ghirahim, Zant's best friend.

Ghirahim is jaded by the abuse of the Demon King, but Link starts to believe there may be a kind heart under that cunning exterior. If it weren't for Ghirahim's unflinching loyalty to darkness, there might be hope for them both.
