Mal rolls her eyes. “Boys, you’re cleaning out here. Evie, we’re going to take the kitchen and then the dining room. Don’t do anything stupid.”
“Never,” Jay promises, flashing Mal a little half-smile. “We’ll work on whatever–uh, this stuff is.” Whipping the sheet off the nearest object reveals a weird half-couch that’s covered in what’s probably real snakeskin, and a cloud of dust so thick that Jay’s pretty sure he can feel it coating his teeth. “Ack.”
Mal laughs at him because she’s the worst sometimes. “Sure, whatever you say, man. Yell whenever you find something magical, kay? My mom had a lot of cursed shit, and I don’t want either of you two getting into something you don’t know how to get out of.”In retrospect, Jay should have listened to the warning.

Summary
Two weeks ago, Sam witnessed the violent homophobic assault of his best friend, almost kissed Puck on the doorstep, and found himself grounded for his refusal to apologize when he wasn't sorry.
