    Summary

Since their anniversary, conversations with Crowley had been -- disturbed. Disturbing, if he was honest. There was a reticence about Crowley that Aziraphale hadn't seen since 1862.

It wasn't that Crowley had become cold or distant -- quite the reverse, in fact. Telephone calls were now a daily, even several-times-a-day experience. Not so long ago, Crowley’s voice down the line would burst into Aziraphale’s day, a flare of unlooked-for excitement rolling through him. Now, Crowley called so often that it was beginning to worry him, and he himself was beginning to find it, if he was honest, a bit much.

And there was something odd about Crowley's behaviour now, guarded and tetchy, particularly when they spent time at the bookshop.

Aziraphale gets a suit. Crowley's his fairy suitparent. It's all very queer and lovely.

    Summary

In September 1999, when his family gets connected to the internet, prospective Marine Biology student Crowley discovers an online forum where he can actually talk to people who share his passion for saving the whales. He begins corresponding with a kind stranger he knows only as Ocean_Angel, and is incredibly excited when the opportunity arises to meet this mysterious person in real life.

As their friendship develops, Crowley shares things with Angel that he can't talk about with anyone else, and Angel's insights help him to explore and embrace his own identity. As Crowley works towards finding a place in this world where he feels like he really belongs, he realises that a big part of the answer to that question might actually be right in front of him. What if where he belongs is with Angel?

    Bookmarker's Notes

Set in the 90's, but like by someone who remembers the 90s. I can smell the polyester and CFCs.
Bit odd to have them so young, but it's very sweet and the author does us the kindness of glossing over the HIV/AIDS crisis... it's a story about two young men who love whales and each other, okay?
