Summary

The next night, unable to slip back into the confines of his new life alone, he returns to the Continental for one more meeting with a man who was once far more than a friend to him. John’s spine stiffens. His heart skips a beat. It’s been a long time, but he would know that voice anywhere.
“Cassian,” he says, unaffected.
“Fancy seeing you here.” Cassian gestures to the open seat next to John. “May I join you?”
“Yeah.”
When Cassian sits, his knee knocks against John’s, almost unintentional.
John employs every last ounce of carefully honed self-discipline to stop himself from winding his hands in the lapels of Cassian’s jacket and doing something he would ultimately regret right here in the Continental bar.
Alternatively: On his first mission back following a stint in prison, John reconnects with an old friend.
