Shane is in a huge Omega Drop after leaving Ilia's hotel. Luckily, Scott and Kip found him before anything terrible happens. But they have only one way to cure him - to mark him. They are also furious about Shane's irresponsible Alpha, whoever that asshole is.
But Ilya doesn't even know Shane is an Omega. That night becomes his biggest regret.

Summary
This is hockey, there is no room for alphas or omegas. There is only ice and skates and the cheering from the stands. Las Vegas is a mistake, just one more to add to the long list. Collapsing in the elevator because his hind brain doesn't understand that what exists in the space between Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov; that's a problem. Biology would call it inevitable, Shane calls it potentially career-ending.
Ilya calls it his greatest failure as an alpha, the ultimate betrayal of his omega's heart. And sure, they aren't actually mates, but the thought is a nice one. No one has to know that Ilya's deepest fantasy is coming home to a sweet omega with a weak backhand. Walking away from that omega is the hardest thing Ilya Rozanov has ever had to do.

Summary
Walking away from his omega is the biggest mistake of Ilya Rozanov's life, his biggest regret. He can feel his omega suffering, his own suffering is unimportant. Going back to Montreal is unavoidable, going to Shane's hospital room and hoping his omega can forgive him is his only option. The implications of his actions aren't a mystery; Ilya risks both of their jobs, endangers the sacrifices they've both made since childhood. Ilya wonders if Shane will forgive him, will turn him away. Ilya had chosen societal expectation once before, he will not make that mistake again. Shane telling him to leave is a possibility he cannot think about too much but would accept no matter how painful.

Summary
Instead of Marleau, Rozanov's the one to viciously hit Hollander during their game, breaking his collarbone and giving him a concussion. When the trainers pull off Shane's helmet, every person on the ice learns a secret that Shane and Ilya didn't even know they were keeping.
An outpour of angst and love follows - but all that comes to a devastating conclusion where Ilya destroys everything he has ever loved.
