A green bath with a mortician window; a lady is facing away fom the viewer, naked except for a cloth slug low around her hips. Perhaps she'll enter the bath, perhaps she's just an attendant, preparing the room for a future bather.

This series is complete as-is. More works may be added in the future.

This is a mostly-MCU universe assumes that Tony Stark attended MIT from 1981 to 1986. Building 20 still stood, and the crack epidemic was going strong in the industrial area and housing projects abutting the North-East edge of campus. MIT was - and remains - an institution like no other, and this story tries to introduce it to us through Tony's eyes.

    Bad Jokes by Celaestis

Qui-Gon Lives and Obi-Wan (queen of bad decisions) Hooks Up with Jango Fett. And so it starts - either this is the bad joke, or everything that follows is. These two novels make a complete and compelling tale of Obi-Wan navigating the Clone Wars and the Pyrrhic choices that war demands. (At least she gets laid along the way)

▪️The Set Up ~70,000 words, Complete
It's like the start of a bad joke.
The Resurrected Man, the Chosen One and the Sith Slayer walk into a temple.
Too bad the punchline is the rest of Obi-Wan's life.

Jango curls his fingers under her chin. "At least her child will come into the world."

Padmé isn't the only one she's taken something from, she remembers suddenly. She took something from Jango, years ago, something he has no idea of. She swallows. "And if it didn't? If Padmé decided she couldn't do it by herself, if she decided things were better if the child were never born?"

    "Ben?"

She turns away. "It was years ago, Before you and I were- When it was just-" Her hand covers her abdomen. "After Corellia."

"Why didn't you tell me?" he asks.

"I know how sacred children are to Mandalorians. I was afraid to."

"Children are sacred to Mando'ade. So is the freedom of our women."

    Summary

There came a point when breaking Loki out of prison, to assist in the fight against some evil or another, was occurring so regularly that the Allfather decided to alter Loki’s sentence from “life in prison” to “community service”. It was either that or install a revolving door. Loki was forced to wear a magical bracelet (or “shackle”, as Loki would whine) which not only limited his access to his powers when he wasn’t on a battlefield, but also bind him, to a radius of ten yards, to his parole office, Thor.

Occasionally Thor (and Jane) needed a break from his brooding brother. Enter Darcy Lewis.

    Sparks Flew by freudensteins_monster

It’s a Darcy and Loki babysitter-to-friends-to-lovers fic. The pace is crisp, the sexy-times proportional to the fic (yes they’re there, but once it starts it’s not 100% smut) and all in all it’s a good “beach read”

All his life Loki had felt like his was standing in Thor’s shadow, and now it was no longer a metaphor.

But as vocal as Loki was about how degrading his new punishment was, he took undeniable pleasure in the vexation his constant proximity was causing Thor. Especially when he was trying have private moments with Jane Foster.

    One Last Interview by saavik13

This is a slow, wordy vignette, but the weight and placement of each word is so carefully chosen that as Spock speaks to the young reporter his story could not be one word shorter without loosing something intrinsic.

Note that this story is from 2013 (AO3 and Fanfiction.net publication date), and as such it is based on the assumption that a polyamorous relationship or three-way-partnership between Spock, Kick, and McCoy would be kept quiet (if not secret.) From 2022 this can seem jarring, but it was a very common perspective in fiction about anything that wasn’t a heterosexual pair.

The truth of the situation was that in his youth and his exuberance, the young man had crossed a boundary that other more seasoned journalists had avoided. In his quest to do the best most thorough job possible, Mr. Carson Jackson had turned what should have been a basic background piece on the Khitomer Accords into a scandal. The worst of it was, the man was clueless as to the implications of what he had uncovered.

    […]

But the young college student before him, working his first internship with a multiworld publication had not acted out of malice or greed. Jackson was simply doing a good job, to the best of his abilities, and the teacher in Spock had acknowledged that the manchild before him showed promise in his chosen field. So instead of unleashing the terror of a Vulcan High Council gag order, or sending a Fleet Admiral to 'talk', Spock had accepted the interview request.

Jackson clearly hadn't been expecting his request to be answered at all, let alone accepted. And if he'd had more experience that alone would have tipped him off that the information he had was more than it seemed.

    Summary

‘I didn’t know you were in the country, Jane,’ said Jane's grandmother. ‘Of course, nobody tells me anything.’

‘It’s just a very last minute thing,’ said Jane, which Thor knew to be a lie. ‘I only arrived yesterday-’ another lie, ‘and I’m just on the way to work and thought I’d stop by and see Mom.’ This too was not true. ‘This is my friend Thor,’ she added, almost casually. ‘He’s been helping me with some work so we’re driving into the university together.’ This seemed the most flagrant of all the lies, but Thor decided not to let it show.

It's not always convenient to be a relationship, so sometimes Jane and Thor have to make sacrifices.

Five Times Jane and Thor Broke Up and One Time They Didn't by shinyopals

Does what it says on the tin (for some definition of breaking up, which usually involves lying to an external party) with chapters alternating between their points of view. The way shinyopals clearly captures either Jane or Thor’s inner voice is reason enough to read this fic, but that they capture both and the hilarity of some of the “breakups,” plus the genuine affection between the two, make it a must read.

How not to adopt a child by LadyStorm

This story has two central truths: It starts and ends in war, and both the Doctor and Obi-Wan are destined for infinite sadness. (Truthfully, a favorite trope of mine) But, even Davros can have a moment of kindness, and in traveling together for a while they can lighten some of their own, and others’, loads.

The formatting is atrocious - all of the paragraphs are slurred together (I think ‘br’ instead of ‘p’ was used, or the author pasted it in from a source without a blank line between paragraphs - either way, it could use a good find-and-replace) but we’ll worth the extra effort to read.

Ka Faraq Gatri was the most dangerous person Davros had ever known, and yet he had expressed and displayed the same weaknesses as his Lab assistant for compassion and kindness.

The Doctor, Davros thought wryly, would probably like his Lab Assistant.
