Summary
There’s a lot to be said for a quiet and comfortable life, filled with routines and spotless surfaces.
History professor Alicent Hightower has it, treasures it, spent her whole life working her ass of for it.
But then her father goes ahead and dies, ripping at old wounds from a childhood she likes to pretend she’s healed from, and before she can try to pick herself up again, a force of nature named Rhaenyra Targaryen barrels into her life as her new teachers assistant.
The result? A fast-forming, bordering on codependent friendship, a painful fallout of sorts and life lessons about hurt, longing and working through frustration with someone’s more-than-willing head between your thighs.
There’s a lot to be said for that, too, in the end.
