“Bon, frère, qu’est-ce que t’as, sérieusement?”
Elian sursaute presque, comme si Maxime l’avait pris la main dans le sac d’une énième de ses magouilles habituelles.
“Non, rien…” il tente de nier, même si l’effort fourni est ridicule tant il n’est pas crédible, “Rien du tout.”
“Elian.”
“Ok-” il abandonne très vite et enchaîne, d’un seul souffle, “Manas voulait que j’attende avant de te le dire parce qu’il sait pas encore grand chose et qu’on sait même pas si on doit être contents ou dépités et moi je sais pas ce que ça va te faire et peut-être que tu préférerais même pas savoir mais je peux pas ne rien te dire alors -”
Maxime a à peine eu le temps de suivre ce qu’il vient de débiter, mais ça n’a que peu d'importance face à ce qui sort ensuite de sa bouche.

But he soon realizes that most are in fact just lost, sad - broken almost.
So he takes on the habit of helping them out a bit, as much as he can, considering his very little size that makes him unable to talk with humans. Still, he can use his body to tell them things, or answer their questions, about where to stay, where to find food, who to avoid.. and when or how they can leave.
Yoongi doesn’t have the answer to that question. All he can tell them is that most children here come and go, and that he doesn’t know the reason for it. One day they appear out of nowhere, and another day they’re gone, their friendship and memories with them.
And one day - one day there’s Hoseok."

Summary
Richie calls each of the Losers at an ungodly hour of the morning. It has everything to do with boredom and nothing to do with his sky-rocketing fears of rejection and loneliness. Coincidentally, Eddie seems to be blowing him off, which is- you know, not so great. It's all good, though. Richie is fine. But he has yet to manage to call him.
Alternatively, high schoolers scared of what life is bringing them, and the Losers trying to help.

Summary
Whatever little control Richie felt he had over his own body dissolved rapidly and humiliatingly around June, which is coincidentally also when Eddie deemed it warm enough to start wearing shorts regularly. Like a bundle of kindling, Richie was consumed by ferocious, hungry heat as the days curled and blackened at the edges under the Maine sun.
(Alternatively: A year in which Richie confronts the horrors of tenth grade and a crush on his best friend that just won't quit.)

Richie’s mom had long since given up reminding him to sleep on the floor when he had guests over. Richie knew it was probably wise. Not for politeness — fuck that shit — but other reasons entirely. But it would be weirder to change something like that all of a sudden, to draw attention to the fact that we’re not kids anymore and we’re growing up and things are different now because what was so different anyhow? Him and Eds, Eds and him — the two great ol’ buddy ol’ pals. What exactly was going to happen if they just — ha ha — you know, shared the bed? What was the best that could happen?

Summary
He eventually sees them through the cloying haze of body-warm air that’s wrapped itself around the crowd—Richie looks as though he’s attempting to dance with Eddie and force a bit of vodka on him at the same time. Though the bodies around Bill are pressed up tight against one another, everyone’s given the pair a few feet of berth to avoid the thrash of skinny limbs currently engaged in a sort of dance-wrestle. The chatter of his classmates’ voices has melted into an indistinct blanket of noise, but Bill can still make out Richie singing loudly to the music and the shrill tones of an irate Eddie.
(Alternatively: It's 1992, they're 16, and Richie's been unusually quiet lately)
