Summary
For over a century, two northern California farming families, the Airds and Belivets, have been at odds. They raised various crops over the decades, but both clans began to concentrate on growing and harvesting walnuts in the 1920s. Deadly gun violence haunted this feud in the 19th Century. Later, the weapons became words and societal backstabbing.
Therese Belivet returns to the groves in 1967 to teach at the local high school. Low and behold, Carol Aird's daughter, Rindy, is in Therese's Honors English class. Will it be two cats in a burlap sack or a pair of lovelorn souls discovering romance among the Walnut groves?
