During the day, omegas are shinobi who serve Konoha. At night, however, they return to The Pools, underground caverns where they serve Alphas. And when they are in heat, omegas born to clans are sent to the omega heat barracks, where they are bred by Konoha-approved Alphas in the service of their clans.
Hatake Kakashi, a jōnin, a teacher, and an omega, has always managed to avoid the heat barracks. But he cannot avoid every Alpha. Nor can he, ultimately, avoid the truth of his own life and experience in Konoha.

“Can I help you?” Kakashi says, tightening his grip on the handle yet again. It feels like he’s right on the edge of some realization that will make all the strange pieces fit into place, but he just can’t quite figure it out. Almost imperceptible shivers run through the man’s body—why is he holding the coat in his arms instead of putting it on?
“I-I’m sorry—maybe I shouldn’t have come,” the man says, shifting from foot to foot and then glancing back into the night. Kakashi feels that same sense of familiarity that struck when he watched the man do the same action through the peephole—like the man is doing a sweep of the premises.
The man turns back. His eyes find Kakashi’s again and he opens his mouth to speak—Kakashi feels his own mouth drop.
“T-Tenzo?” Kakashi says.
Kakashi left ANBU when he became the guardian of baby Naruto, choosing to dedicate his time to raising his mentor’s son away from the bloody world he knew. They'd just won the war and were ready to live their dreams. Naruto seems to ruin it all, and now his twin sister, Natsumi, is left to pick up the pieces. She, after all, had wanted to see Uzushio, but never like this!Hasn't she done enough for her village at this point? Plus, they'd finally achieved peace, and she doesn't want to screw that up.
