The story of Valhra Elst-ven, a genderfluid enby sent to Eorzea to fill in as the Warrior of Light, and their journey through Hydaelyn and beyond.
Sort of but not really an MSQ rewrite. As much headcanon as AU, following the overall arc of the story without being as simple as just writing an already fairly complicated and fleshed out story. An isekai sort of in the style of, and directly influenced by, Final Fantasy Tactics A2. Also inspired by the fantasy works I've spent way too much of my life reading and rereading, with an increased focus on character relationships (romantic and not), fight/action scenes, political drama, and world building. You know, all the stuff XIV is best at, only written out!

Eorzea is in peril. Fifteen years ago, the Garlean Empire smashed its everlasting maw into it and bit off a morsel to sate its warmongering hunger, but it was never enough. And yet the continent ignores the threat. The Sharlayan mage and scholar Y'shtola wonders if she and master Louisoix are the sole people who fear what the Garleans truly intend and that it will be too late before anyone can act. But they won't give up, which is why they make the journey to the southern lands, hoping to find answers in unexpected corners. Perhaps the smuggler Joltin Dazkar might be one such avenue.
Eorzea is ripe for the taking. This is the belief of Eternal Emperor Solus zos Galvus and the words of Legatus Gaius van Baelsar of the XIVth Legion. This is why he is sending his second, Livia tol Junius and her highly-skilled mostly foreign-born subordinates in Battalion Subzero, led by Primus Ordinarius Jhera, to make the land ready for his true conquest. It is to this battalion that Fordola and other volunteers and conscripts of Ala Mhigo are being sent, to serve their former conquerors. She doesn't know what this will entail, but Fordola will prove herself to them and make the rest of Eorzea submit to the selfsame humiliation.

Then, abruptly, the characteristic pop of an aetherial discharge and sudden displacement of air that could only mean one thing— someone had just been teleported onto the Ragnarok.
Thancred’s heart soared as he saw Rinh Panipahr materialize before his eyes—
—and then sunk like a stone when the teleportation magicks keeping Rinh suspended in the air dissipated, she tumbled to the ground in a cacophonous clatter of armor, and he finally got a good look at the state she was in.
She was sprawled out across the floor, seemingly motionless, limbs slack and head lolling alarmingly. Her face was swollen with florid bruises and caked with dried blood. Her armor was a wreck— dented here, torn asunder there, and everywhere pockmarked with deep, jagged punctures. Blood slowly pooled beneath her.
The Scions were aghast; a terrible silence hung over the bridge. For one horrifying moment, Thancred was sure that she was dead.
Before that thought could take root, though, Y’shtola spoke. “Her aether stirs,” she said, “She yet lives— but her injuries are grave, and she needs help, now.”

Bloodied and filthy, his armor well made and strong but beaten beyond use. The once bright clothes and jaunty hat of a bard burnt and stinking of smoke. Of something harsh and brackish that curled the nose and the tails of the miqo’te that had found him. One fighter, injured in the battle of Carteneau who would bear no sword again, was struck by the familiarity of the smell. Like gunfire. Like warspells. Like a battle forged in the very pits of man’s misery and desperation."
A playful--and sometimes very Not Playful--study of the impacts of a Warrior of Light stumbling fresh and new into a wide open adventure. Lazily catching the storyline of the MSQ, but primarily focusing on the relationships formed by the WoL and the various players at my own, somewhat unhinged, discretion.
