Summary
Hidden in the English Channel there is an island called Piffling. On the island, there is a town called Piffling Vale.
Six months after our settlement earning its township, life in Piffling remains mostly undisturbed and - to a great extent - the same as before. It is as if a large part of the 21st century marked the single mile of Piffling as out of bounds.
But you can't avoid change forever. And, at long last, it has come to Piffling Vale. Things will never be the same again. And no one knows that better than Rudyard Funn, whose feud with his immensely popular rival, Eric Chapman, was the first thing to stir up changes in our town's tepid life.
Chapman brought with him variety, excitement and a chance for everyone to enjoy themselves. And while his practice remains the favoured funeral home for many, Rudyard is quietly confident that a busy and thriving town like Piffling can easily support two funeral homes.
So it's a real pity that we are getting shut down now!
Yes, you see, Rudyard Funn used to run a funeral home in the town of Piffling Vale.
He doesn't anymore.

You are cordially invited to the Jolly Fun Alumni Dance of St. Clôture!
After receiving the invitation to a dance, Antigone might have mentioned to a classmate she was going with Eric Chapman in a panicked lie. He seemed to be surprisingly open to the idea.

Summary
Rudyard was only there for the popcorn. Chapman, on the other hand, was apparently there to make Rudyard's life a living hell, because he'd decided that spilling his darkest secrets to Rudyard was an appropriate way to spend his Monday night. The sincerity in Chapman's voice did strange things to Rudyard's resolve. That was the excuse he gave himself for why he came back a week later, then the week after that, then when he was pacing on Chapman's doorstep, and oh, oh no-
That's how he ended up in Chapman's living room, watching him giggle over a glass of wine. But honestly, after the absolutely absurd two months he'd had? It wasn't even surprising anymore.

A collection of stories in which Eric Chapman doesn't succeed.
“Right, s- sorry.” Why was he stuttering? He never stuttered. “I wanted to invite you-” He shot a glance at Rudyard. “Both of you, well, three counting Madeleine, she's obviously also invited, to my place. For lunch on Sunday. You can come over. If you want.”

... And One Time He Woke Up With Her
The dream sequence in the finale made me think that it could not have been the first time he dreamed of her. In fact, his subconscious tried really hard to get through to him.

“Eric, bloody hell, what do you want, then?”
“To teach you some patience, first of all,” he says, and Antigone growls, yanking at her restraints, thrashing her head against the pillow in frustration. “Oh, don’t be like that love,” he admonishes. “I can think of much worse ways to learn that particular lesson.”
.
Eric has some fun with Antigone.

Summary
Antigone Funn had spent much of the past 18 years cooped up in her mortuary and her experience with alcohol was less varied than Chapmans. A fact that was not entirely surprising to Eric but he was only now discovering the extent of her alcohol tolerance - or lack there-of.
-
Basically Antigone gets drunk and affectionate and Chapman doesn't know how to deal with it.

Jennifer Delacroix runs a radio station in the town of Piffling Vale. When she first arrived on the island and set up her station, she hoped it would be a chance to start over, away from the isolation and feeling of difference she’d had her whole life. She only ever hoped that she’d find a community and love there, but Piffling Vale was an extremely surprising place, in more ways than one...

"Alright Chapman, let's cut to the chase," Georgie said, resting her forearms on a poplar display casket. "Snogging. You've done it before."
Eric Chapman wished he could say with certainty that this particular conversation was the strangest he'd had with a resident of Piffling Vale, but he knew that it likely didn't make the list of top twenty.
"I may have. What is this about?"
"I need you to show Antigone the ropes."

“I love you, you know.”
Eric Chapman made every effort to remain at once very still on the mortuary table, while at the same time not betraying the fact that he had to put special effort into doing so. His eyes remained fixed to the ceiling.

Summary
It's been 4 years since Eric Chapman left Piffling Vale with hardly a word of explanation to its inhabitants, 3 years since Antigone Funn left it to find herself.
A chance encounter at a hotel bar may provide the answers and closure they have both been seeking.
