Summary
Heaven, Dean finds, is surprisingly not easy to adjust to.
He gets along with both of his parents fine, which comes as a pleasant shock. Bobby visits once in a while for dinner, bringing booze and long anecdotes about hunts of the past. Ellen and Jo have the Roadhouse up and running, and Dean stops by once a week or so to chat. He’s surrounded by familiar faces and warm welcomes, and it’s nice.
Still, something feels eerie about the place. He’s chalked it up to just plain paranoia, considering the quite literal Hell on Earth he’d experienced in life. But now that there’s nothing to hunt, why is he still so uneasy? Surely Jack’s new Heaven is trustworthy... right?

It was frankly embarrassing how long it took him to remember.
Or, Dean remembers that Cas isn't with them in Heaven and (platonically) decides to rescue him. -

Summary
Picking up right after 15x18 “Despair” and ignoring everything after (obviously), the Winchester brothers have a crisis to fix, unfortunately, Dean would rather crawl into a bottle than deal with Chuck’s punishment or, even worse, the last words of his best friend and what they strongly implied. Dean is faced with one undeniable truth: how does he want to live his life from here on out? More importantly, who does he want to live it with?

Summary
Dean turns his head downward to look into the pit.
Two skeletons fit into the hollow of it. Their clothes are tattered, but Dean can clearly make out a navy green jacket and a bloody red handprint, old boots on the corpse flat on its back, laid out oh so gently with hands crossed over its decayed stomach. And the second corpse, skeletal arms wrapped around Dean’s own rotting body, skull tucked into Dean’s corpse side. A soil-stained, tattered trench coat is tucked around the second hunched corpse, like a blanket to hide away beneath. One skeletal hand clutches the shoulder of the green jacket, just off center of the handprint encrusted into the fabric.

Summary
“Something will work,” Sam says, like they haven’t tried everything. like God hasn’t been ignoring their prayers. Like the queen of hell wasn’t just sitting in the living room. “We just need to keep looking. We can get him back.”
Through the door is silence. Sam imagines Dean, prone on the bed, blinking fast, trying to let the words mean something.
“We can’t.” Is all he eventually says. “But if you need to keep trying, I’m not going to stop you.”Sam is trying everything he can think of to get Cas back from the empty, and to get his brother out of bed. He's not having much luck with either of those things.

It just shifted."A short one shot that follows Cas reflecting on his relationship with Dean as he is taken to the Empty.

Summary
Of course he died. This was the easiest case they'd ever had. Everything was going so well it could only be paving the way for some huge cosmic punchline.
Dean had thought dying would be the end to his story, not just another bump in the road.
(A story following the events of Carry On. Rewriting the heaven scene, and following Team Free Will 2.0 in what comes next. Alternate Season 16 I suppose. Dean/Cas & Sam/Eileen)
(*NOT* a fix-it.)

Summary
He sat there in silence, the last moments of Dean swirling in his mind. Time seemed to warp and fold. He did not know if it had been minutes, hours, or days. The flat blackness around him wobbled somewhere to his right. A thin, waspy voice crawled into his ears.
"Why are you so… bright?" it said.
Castiel turned his head slightly, but it seemed futile to try and pinpoint the source of the voice. He knew what it was, and that it was both everywhere and nowhere. He did not, however, know what it meant. A faint shape formed inches from his eyes. It looked vaguely like a featureless face, and it tilted its head like a strange, slow bird. He blinked at it. He did not have the energy to respond. He was exhausted by the despair in his bones, resting heavy in his limbs.
"There are not supposed to be souls here," the Empty said.
(The Empty rejects Castiel. He is a wreck. So is Dean.)
