Inana Lavellan can't see most things - not in the waking world, anyway. The Fade is another matter, shining like a beacon just beyond the Veil. She loves the Fade, where everything is clear. Most clear of all is the spirit-teacher she has had for as long as she can remember. He taught her when she was still a child how to interact with spirits without fear. He shows her ancient dreams and memories. He talks with her about magic and philosophy. She has learned so much from him that it hardly even matters that their timelines seem to meet at random, and he doesn't always - or even often - remember who she is.
Imagine her surprise when her dreams lead her to the Conclave, compassion leads her to the burned-out temple in the wake of the explosion, necessity leads her to begin attempting to close the Breach - and she discovers that the spirit she has known all her life exists in the waking world as a man calling himself Solas.

Summary
In a modern Thedas, Evelyn Trevelyan is a badass lawyer trying to make her own way without her parents intervening. Max, her brother, is encouraging and introduces her to his friend Mr. Hissrad. She is still a little wounded from her relationship with Seggrit (Arse Biscuit), but still a badass. She meets Bull first then Cullen. This will eventually be a poly relationship. It will have a happy ending for everyone because I can't help it. I'll update tags as I go.
"His name was Lawrence Hissrad. An awful name for a guy like him. He was big and tall and charming. His nickname was Bull and it suited him. He was tall, but that wasn’t the way to describe him. Bull was huge. He was easily 6’8” if not taller, and his shoulders were twice as wide as she was. And then there were his arms. They were tatted and sexy as hell. Evie loved big arms. His biceps are probably as big as her thighs."
Max meets Dorian, it's pretty much love at first sight and Evie wants to help Dorian escape his father's grasp, can she do it legally?

Dorian looked into Rilienus’s eyes, what little he could see, the line of tears adding to his inability to focus, young love, it had been, but now all he could feel was hatred.
Bleary and barely alert, he could have sworn he heard screams elsewhere—close by, perhaps. They weren’t pleasant, and it was difficult to discern if they were his own. His tormenter had stepped closer, a sudden urgency there which confused the mage, his hand cupping his chin and forcing their eyes to meet.
“ Don’t make me kill you! ”
“ Try it. “
The second voice was familiar, too familiar—too comforting; it was impossible. Rilienus began to speak quickly in Tevene, the spell beginning to tear at Dorian’s skin, blood bubbling to the surface. Before it could continue, however, an arrow was shot through the man’s chest and an axe fell moments later, severing head from body in a clean cut.
Dorian’s body fell with a sickening thump against the ground, a sharp gasp of air leaving him.
