Christian stumbled down the sidewalk, the sun had set hours ago leaving him in the dark. His hands shook as he clutched his side. Blood seeped through his fingers despite his best efforts of trying to stop the flow. Every step was agony. His left foot felt twisted and made a weird clicking noise when he stepped down on it. He staggered and fell into a gate making an odd whimpering sound. His vision was blurred by the blood that dripped into his eyes from a gash on his forehead. He kept making a gasping noise at the back of his throat. ‘I need to get to Satine.’ He thought frantically.

A multi-chapter Moulin Rouge! AU in which Henry is a hopelessly romantic writer who has run to Paris to escape from the gilded cage of the royal family he was born into. Alex is the Sparkling Diamond of the Moulin Rouge, Montmartre's most famous nightclub, but he yearns to become a lawyer to help the impoverished community he calls home. I've noticed there aren't many fics about the Broadway version, so this fic applies to both the movie and stage production (more closely portraying the stage characters).
