Summary
Just because things happened in one time-line, doesn't mean they have to happen in this one. At least, that's Jane Kirk's determined opinion upon being told she and Spock were married in that other reality. The universe, however, has other ideas - and the spirit of her dead counterpart stuck inside her head isn't helping matters.
This story was originally published over at FanFic.Net on: October 26th 2013.
AUTHOR'S NOTE 03/12/23: This story is over ten years old. I'm a different writer now and, well, re-reading this story after so long made me cringe. A lot. I won't remove the story since people still seem to like it, but I just wanted to mention this since not only has my actual writing improved, but I now have different thoughts on the concept of destiny - namely that it's both lazy writing and kinda horrifying if applied to real life. Not to mention that the idea of taking a m/m or f/f pairing and changing the gender of one half of it just to conform to heteronormative society is... kinda messed up, something that I was oblivious to when I first wrote this story. (Thank you Leyenar_The_Avenger for pointing this out to me.) Feel free to read this story but please bear all of this in mind.

Summary
Death is not poetic, Jim Kirk thinks. It is literal. Death is both the immovable object and the unstoppable force. Death is cruel and does not discriminate. It grasps life and love in its cold, unforgiving hands, stealing them away and leaving destruction and grief in its wake.
At age thirteen, Jim Kirk learns that death, much like a sword, can be wielded - if it is so ordered.
-
Jim meets a strange Vulcan boy while on the run on Tarsus, and they must band together if they have any hope of surviving.

Summary
Very little is known about what happened on Tarsus IV. Those chosen to survive said nothing, those who knew what was happening don’t want to put themselves forwards, those who helped don’t want the punishment and the dead can’t talk. For JT Kirk it was a nightmare he didn’t expect to escape, so he logged it. Maybe one day the truth would get out. Whether he survived it or not.
"This is Captain Vivin Guaviez of the USS Memento. We responded to a recovery beacon on the Planet Tarsus IV and found it was an automatic beacon attached to some logs. Inside this file are the Logs of one James T. Kirk to be used as testimony against Governor Kodos. We are aware it has been almost 14 years since the tragedy occurred. With so little information available on the event, even now, we believed it would be wise to pass it on."

Summary
The Enterprise was in orbit, Captain Kirk, Commander Spock, and Doctor McCoy had beamed down planetside for shore leave, but this story isn't about a picnic among flowers and rolling fields in an oxygen rich atmosphere. This story is about two young crew members taking their opportunity to celebrate freedom while their three commanding officers are away.

Summary
The Enterprise crew is restless, temporarily stationed on Yorktown during completion of the ship's repair and refit in the wake of Khan's vicious, blood-thirsty attacks that left thousands, including their captain, dead.
Thanks to Dr. McCoy's experiments with Khan's super blood, Captain Kirk lives again and is recuperating under Bones' and Spock's watchful eyes.
While they all wait, Lieutenant Nyota Uhura plans various social events and activities for the crew once a month. Her latest is a 1980's costume party/dance at Starfleet Headquarters.
Nyota is growing tired of waiting for Spock to take their relationship to the next level and has big plans after the party to change all that.
Spock merely wants to be at Jim's side, as is the duty of any conscientious first officer...especially one who is in love with his captain.
All of life changes during one special day.

Summary
October, 2257: the ten year anniversary of the Tarsus IV Massacre. Jim Kirk is getting by like he usually does around the time of the anniversary until one of his instructors assigns a reading that brings all the horrors of Tarsus back to the surface. And Leonard McCoy, clueless of his boyfriend's past, finds himself at a loss. With only a cryptic warning and a request to look after her son from Winona Kirk, Leonard begins to piece things together himself and help Jim cope with the trauma. And while the horrors of Tarsus will continue to haunt him, Jim finds solace in finally speaking to someone about what happened and knowing he's got Leonard McCoy looking out for him.
