Summary
He tries to explain his lack of want to Harrison one day. It’s very hard to disappoint me, he says. I’m ready for it. Because he is. It’s as if his emotions filter themselves according to logic, naturally sorting themselves in a way that ensures that he can be as rational as possible. He just doesn’t want things that are pointless or stupid or impractical. He can’t let his heart do as it wishes, letting it run wild and free like Harrison and the other Fluffers do. His heart is always chained to his mind.
But Harrison just shakes his head with a smile. I don’t believe you, he says. I don’t think it’s hard to disappoint you at all. His smile twists like sunlight, and then Drew feels it, a sharp pang in his chest, a stinging want, stronger than he’d thought possible. As soon as he feels it, he suppresses it, knotting it deep within himself. The podcast can’t continue if he’s acting like a fool.
In essence: Drew doesn't think he wants anything. Harrison shows him how he's been lying to himself.

In perfect romcom fashion, Sidlesmith has at least a few snow days every season. Every time, Harrison spends all day outside in it, hoping he’ll finally find his trope. Mostly he just ends up cold and wet. This time, he runs into Drew instead.
[In which the author tried to throw as many snow tropes as possible into a single fic]

They both knew that they’d been cutting it close. Booking flights due to land only a few hours before you needed to be somewhere was more of an art than a science. There’d always be the possibility that it wouldn’t work out, which was why Harrison had insisted on all the contingency plans.
And so, when Drew’s flight had been delayed, then laid over, they hadn’t panicked because they’d had a plan. The nice thing about having separate online presences (in addition to their joint one) was that they weren’t entirely reliant on the other to do stuff like this.Or:
Harrison and Drew are YouTubers, set to do a joint show for VidCon. Drew's plane gets laid over, though, and Harrison must forge ahead on his own, which is... fine. No, really, it's fine. -

Summary
Harrison is perfect. His smile lights up a room, he puts his everything into everything he does, he looks at people like he's happy to see them. He looks at people like he's excited to see what they offer, like he's crossing his fingers that this is the one, this person is someone who's gonna be good for him. He has hope right when he meets someone- especially here at Sidlesmith. He has hope that someone will align with him, and he'll get his trope and meet-cute and fluff. He has hope that all the pieces will fall into place and he'll get his happy ending.
So of course he'd never want Drew as is.
Or so Drew thinks.
~
Set after the events in episode 6, Canon Divergent AU where Harrison thinks about what he said to Drew just a little bit more.

Summary
There’s a path through the arboretum, all but hidden if you don’t know where to look. Drew had found it his first week here. It leads a winding trail through the trees, daring you to turn back at every twist, petering out only to form fully once more should you trust yourself to keep going. It narrows where the woods grow darkest, roots growing across it and grass looming on either side. But beyond it, oh, beyond it. Trust the path, and Sidlesmith will reward you.

"Drop it," he told the squirrel sternly.
The squirrel did not drop it.
"C'mon, mate, give it up."
The squirrel did not. Instead, it chirped at him, then hopped off the bench and scurried across the quad, sandwich clamped firmly in its mouth.
He didn't even have the presence of mind to chase after it, he just sat there in shock. The rain kept pouring, and the students around him kept trudging, and Drew suddenly felt very, very alone.
