Summary
To others Hanna Frey is what she wants others to see, but Sam is the only one that sees her true side. However, given that Hanna has reincarnated into multiple dimensions and universes, it's no wonder that she might have a few screws loose. Summary
Root dies at the end of "The Day the World Went Away" and a world loses one of it's greatest heroes and the Machine loses her Analogue Interface.
But that's not where her story ends, she dies and wakes up in a familiar subway station, alone but for an ancient individual waiting for the train to his next life.
Her journey into a much larger multiverse of possibilities begins with teaching a man the same lessons that the Machine taught her years before.(I suggest reading before this A Cosmere Interloper which is the first three parts in this series as it would contextualise the characters better though it isn't necessary reading as most of the important stuff will be explained if I think it's important)

For clarity's sake: I do not think Finch is being transphobic when he doesn't use the name Root instead of Ms. Groves, I just don't think he knows that it's a preferred name situation.
If somebody who can use the d slur will advise me on how to approach this because i am a trans gay guy who is not legally allowed to say it, but i feel like root would use it

Summary
You can’t see the stars in New York, not really. The best you can get is on a clear night on the roof of a building, you might see some peeking through the skyglow. It’s nothing like out west, not like Texas. Growing up, Root used to lie on her back and look up at the stars for hours, counting them and making up constellations until she couldn’t keep her eyes open. Sometimes Hannah would be there, and they would lean into each other under the blanket to keep the cold out. Those moments are few and far between these days, but she still misses it, sometimes.
Root and Shaw find each other in Central Park during a blackout.
