The Shadowbound Beasts are sworn to their Empyrean from the moment they are bestowed. Such is the case of Maliketh, the Black Blade, as well as Blaidd, the Half-Wolf. These beasts are charged with protecting their Empyrean with their lives, to serve their Master or Mistress without fail, or to slaughter them should the Greater Will feel threatened.
Lýkos, however, has no Empyrean. Bestowed as an infant to grow alongside her Empyrean, her prospective Mistress did not survive infancy. Lýkos was cast into the Badlands the day after her Empyrean's death at the hands of Blackflame wielding assassins, seen as a failure for not protecting her Empyrean in despite of her infant state.
As a Shadowbound without an Empyrean, Lýkos grew up alone, forced to survive in a land seen as deadly even by those such as Godfrey himself. Yet, somehow, be it through grit or luck, or perhaps both, Lýkos has survived. In this day and age, where warring Demigods have wrought chaos and desolation on the Lands Between, Lýkos presents a wholly unique candidate for providing change to the devastated lands. What if there was another ruler before Queen Marika, what if every character somehow knew them at one time or another even if it’s just by history books. The ruler during the age before, the Age of the Crucible. The Greater Will was never to kind to the first ruler so they always went against them, and after they died the Greater will decided to wipe all memories of them, leaving only the few that remember and the books to tell stories, but what happens when the first ruler comes back, reborn anew with very few memories of the past life. Only having the name and the face of the past.

She awoke in the lands between, childhood ended, and now Tarnished. Beckoned by a desperate plea, as her sympathetic nature deemed it, she would respond when called. This time, she was obligor, but the obligee, perhaps a cruel fate, but one she would take to hunt that which led her down this path in the first place.
