Summary
Review of the book "The Blue Sword" by Robin McKinley. YA-level historical fantasy set in a land vaguely reminiscent of the 19th century British Empire in India. A young woman from the British-type society is kidnapped by the tribal Hillfolk, but feels more at home with them and helps them fight an outside enemy. It feels slightly old-fashioned, but also calm and confident, without the quirkiness and self-consciousness of some modern stories.

Summary
Centuries after the events of The Hero and the Crown, when much of Aerin's tale has fallen to legend and myth and little is remembered of her true life, Teka's journals are discovered in a long hidden room of the castle. From the journals is published a biography of Aerin's life, leading to a revival of the still present legend. From this comes a musical titled Aerin Fire-hair, as yet another retelling of the tale.
Well, thinks Aerin, it could be interesting to see. And I haven't been keeping track of the legends; it will be good to know what comes of this.

Why would an ageless, immortal Aerin take interest in Hari over everything else in the last half dozen centuries? How did those centuries change her? Why might Luthe speak to Harry of the Aerin he knew in the past tense when she was immortal? An attempted answer.

Summary
“What is it?”
“Maur’s bloodstone. The last drop of blood from its heart—the fatal one. All dragons who die by bloodletting spill one of these at the last; but you’d need a hawk’s eyes to find that last curdled drop from a small dragon.”
“Then you keep it. I’m grateful for its wizard-defeating properties, and if I have the great misfortune ever to need to defeat another wizard, I shall borrow it from you. But I don’t want it around.”
“Very well. I shall keep it. And you will know where to find it if ever you have the need.”
“I will know. But gods preserve me from needing that knowledge ever again.” -

Aerin sniffed and wondered that Tor even imagined he would be going without her, in this or in anything. The new, vast desert was somehow a part of her own misfit menagerie now, something strange and new that Damar needed to accept as its own.
