Summary
River City: a metropolis about the size and socioeconomic/cultural importance of San Francisco, home to a wide range of daring, dauntless superheroes…and dire, dangerous supervillains. About 40 miles off the coast lies the island micronation of Gothregor, last remnant of the long-since-dissolved Knorth Empire. No one has heard anything from them since the last known living Knorth scion left River City in a blaze of disgrace over 30 years ago…

Brier vs. the Lords of the Forest by NevillesGran
Fandoms: Chronicles of the Kencyrath - P. C. Hodgell

Summary
The lord of the forest that surrounded the town next to Brier’s was kind—or at least, he fancied himself so. She knew this because when her mother danced herself to death with him, he draped himself in mortal guise, made visiting-treaty with the lord of the forest that surrounded Brier’s town, and brought Brier’s mother’s body to lay at her feet, and her great hunting bow beside. He said, “I’m sorry,” and “I didn’t notice her until she’d danced too long. I would have stopped her if I’d seen sooner,” and the lords and ladies of the forests could not lie, so Brier knew he was telling the truth.

In theory, the Jaran cherished the principle of choice. Every son was free to take up the viol or sword at his discretion, and every daughter to choose the Women’s Halls or Mount Alban for her residence. The reality, of course, was rarely that simple.

Summary
There was a scent on the air--dry, dust, and salt--that recalled her to her childhood, to her mother’s warm, calloused hands and solid presence at her back, adjusting her stance. Place your feet so, and so. Wider. Bend your knees. No one can move you, if you know how to stand.
How Brier brought Tori back from his weirding-walk, with a little help.Series
