Opening 'Ginger's Snacks' is the fulfillment of she and her best friend's dream. If only Ginger had lived to see it. The shop is ready, all she needs is the clock to strike 6am.
**This is largely fluff, with slow burning smut to follow. It will use many elements of canon, but it is distinctly NOT canon. So try to forgive me if I have characters make decisions or behave in ways they never would in the comics, cartoons, or movies. Try to enjoy them for who they are in the moment, because I've tried very hard to make them compelling and nuanced - even if they aren't perfect.

Bobby smiles, looking the part of the immature, overconfident bachelor to a T. “Her.”
The men laugh again and Amara titters too for the sake of the joke.
“She’s so pretty. What’s your name, sweetheart?” asks a one of the men.
She smiles demurely and looks at Bobby, who answers for her, “Nothing you’ll ever need to learn. She’s mine.”
He reaches around to move her hair behind her shoulder and Amara can feel his fingers shaking, but he looks like he’s never been more comfortable in his life. Her thumb rubs circles on the back of his neck and she tries her best to focus on him and not the other men.

He'd given up trying to find a place to duck under until the rain stopped, and instead was leaning up against a lamppost, shifting his weight when a sudden, sharp jolt of pain radiated through his side.
“Great,” he muttered to himself, pulling up the thin sheer of his shirt to get a better look at the deep purple bruise that was forming across his ribs. The trick had hit him hard enough that a couple of those ribs were probably broken, and that was really the last thing he needed because he didn't have enough money for the rent, let alone a trip to the clinic for some x-rays.

The latest war has been over for six years. The bloodshed earned the kingdom of Genosha peace – or so it seemed from the outside. Inside, matters are far more complicated. The Iron King is aptly named for his harsh rule. Any dissent is crushed with haste; it is the only way to keep the throne. The more blood he sheds, the more the people grow to hate him, a vicious cycle of uprisings and violence to quell them.
The violence is nothing new to Erika. Now a young woman, Erika hopes desperately that perhaps now that the war has been over long enough, peace will finally prevail. She believes that the king can be good, if given the chance. And the quiet prevailing in the kingdom seems to hint that it might be so.
But her quiet and ordered life swiftly tumbles into chaos. Anyways this started as a one chapter thing but I realized its a lot easier to make all of my IceTorch angst that is set in me and my friend's AU to be in one fic so here we are. Might be a little out of character for the comic stuff because the target audience here is me and my friend who love angst and are not above stretching characterizations to do that and basically nobody else.
