The six-year-old boy next to him looked up at him and tilted his head to the side. His straight blonde locks were shimmering platinum thread as they swayed loosely over his bright green eyes. Eiji thought that his eyes nearly perfectly matched the hues of the forest leaves behind him. He looked like he belonged here, somehow.
“Ko-mo-re-bi.” Eiji laughed as he stretched his arm out to tousle the younger boy’s hair. “It’s the word for the light that you can see through the trees.”

Eiji goes home, to Japan, and he grieves for about a week. And then he gets a call from Uraraka Ochako, and she says "yeah, hi, your boyfriend is alive, but he was just kidnapped, like, ten minutes ago." So what the fuck do you want Eiji to do? He gets Ash back, and then finds out Ash has a job at UA high school teaching hand-to-hand combat, and those codependent bastards start living in the dorms together and going back to Eiji's mom's house on the weekends.
So, really, this story is about who can spoil Ash and Eiji fastest: Mrs. Okumura Junko, Shouta and Hizashi Yamada-Aizawa, or the whole of class 1-a (plus Eri, Hitoshi, and Himiko).

Ash was no creature. He was a human, a fairly good one at that. From the slight bump in his nose all the way down to his right ankle, which popped every time he moved it: a sprain that never properly healed.
“Eiji,” he whispers, soft and grateful, like Eiji has given him something he doesn’t deserve. He feels his heart swell.

Eiji blinked, to stop himself from staring at the boy's arms; strong arms. From the muscles of his back, and his taut stomach. From the fact that he didn't seem to be wearing swimming trunks.
But flashing light caught his eye. It was like those water drops, but more concentrated. Less jewels, and more scales. It really was scales. The boy didn't have legs; instead there was a tail, pearlescent white with a streak of black rushing either side. Fins that looked as fragile as glass, twitching slightly, as if to dry themselves out.
The boy watched him with those bright green eyes narrowed. The tail twitched, the end still in the water.
