Damon's lips pulled into a tight line, clearly unsure of how to answer. “I don't know. I never… well, I'm not exactly a scholar. I can't give you a thorough explanation, but I know the mind is a complicated thing.” A beat of silence passed between the two of them, “…Do you want it, though?”
“Huh?”
“To remember.” He shrugged, maintaining the small distance they had, “Do you think it's worth it?”
“I… I don't know.” Of course she said that again, “I told you before, our memories are what make us who we are and I have none. I’m… nothing. There must be something in my life that holds value. I must have some sliver of worth. There has to be something worth remembering.”
“What if there's not?” The softness wavered back to his version of normal. “What if there's something so fucked up in your past, you'd rather forget it all together? Wouldn't you rather not know? Start over?” Damon fluttered a hand in the air, the agitation creeping into his voice
“It can't be all bad. No one has a life that's all bad."(me? writing a6 as if its a full length novel Damon would read on his day off? its more likely than you think)

Despite all appearances, Apolia is resilient. She wasn't meant to be queen, didn't want it, but the chips had fallen and she will step up to the challenge. If only she could decide what Vexx Serif in combination with the blood in her past made her feel, maybe she'd do something about that, too.
