Summary
The day Yuuri Katsuki announces his retirement from competitive figure skating Yuri is forced to admit he has feelings that extend beyond rivalry. He’s been trying to knock Katsuki off his top spot on the podium for years. It’s not fair that he thinks he can retire and leave Yuri like this.
Victor’s dream has always been to skate on the same ice as his idol. Yuuri’s retirement throws a wrench into those plans but that’s okay; Victor is flexible enough for a layback Ina Bauer so he can totally work with this. Yuuri can be his coach instead.
Yuuri just wants to eat some katsudon and enjoy spending time at home after years away at competitions. He doesn’t need these Russians barging into his retirement. They’re interrupting a supposedly peaceful contemplation of what he’s going to do with the rest of his life.

“Okay.” He took a deep breath and exhaled. He then looked at Phichit, “I was a figure skater for Japan but I retired about 18 years ago and currently, I work as a coach and choreographer with my partner. I skated under the name Katsuki Yuuri. I am, as of now in my mind at least, 47 years old.”
Phichit stared blankly at Yuuri. His twenty-year-old (soon to be twenty-one-year-old) son had just mentioned 'retirement' and 'years ago' in one sentence. He even added 47 somewhere in there.
“Huh...”
“Phichit?”
“Huh?”
“Err... I did tell you I have no explanation for this.”
“Ahh...”
Silence.
“Do you need water, Phichit?”
“No. I'll choke.”
“Err...”
“Yuuri...”
“Yes?”
“My poor beautiful smol son...” And then, Phichit wailed.
After an accident at the Free Skating warm-ups in Skate Canada for Season 2014 - 2015, Yuuri Katsuki changed. Everyone is in for a ride and Phichit is only eager to stoke the fire.

Summary
Yuri Plisetsky and Yuuri Katsuki are about as different as cats and dogs, which is to say they have no reason of ever even being acquaintances. Through a stroke of luck, as well as a couple dozen cat pictures, a tight friendship blossoms instead. On their own each skater stands out just fine, but together they shine, pushing each other past previous limits and onto the golden road of victory.
Of course, there is still the living legend to worry about, but he's currently too besotted to lace up his skates, so...
Or: The Bathroom Scene™, but it goes a little differently. Just enough to that Yuri has a new friend and Victor stays in Russia, but manages to pine all the same.

After a snowstorm cancels their return flight and all the hotels are overbooked, Yuuri decides to detour home to wait it out. He offers to let other stranded skaters stay at Yuu-topia, he just didn't know one of them was Victor Nikiforov.

In which Yuuri and Victor never met at the banquet, Yuuri moves on by going back to his roots, thus returning to the ice and somehow ends up as Yuri Plisetky's personal tutor and subsequently saving him from the darkness threatening to consume him.
