The next months were the happiest for Jeongguk and Taehyung when it came to their personal lives. They didn’t have to avoid their feelings anymore, they officially got together and they were out to the group mates so they didn’t have to hide.
When they were working, they were maintaining professionalism and even though sometimes they got a bit too touchy-feely, their staff members didn’t really suspect anything because they have been like that for years.
Getting used to the new couple in the group was tough for everyone. Even though Jeongguk and Taehyung were spending lots of time in Jeongguk’s place, along with Yeontan and Bam, they were still in the shared dorm too and that often led to unwanted or awkward situations. They were trying to keep the skinship on bay when others were around, but sometimes when they had the apartment to themselves, they just got carried away and many times other members walked in on them making out in the living room or kitchen.
Even when they weren’t doing anything compromising, they were often teased by others.
Like today when they got up early and decided to make breakfast together for themselves and other members, but they just ended up messing around in the kitchen, laughing and kissing more than actually cooking.
“You two are so disgusting,” Hoseok commented when he walked in with Jimin to a scene of Jeongguk having Taehyung trapped against the kitchen counter, feeding him some toast and kissing him in between, making the omega giggle between every kiss and every bite.
“It’s really cute, but also annoying,” Jimin agreed.
“You are just jealous because you are single,” Taehyung retorted, sticking tongue at his best friend.
“One would think that after months you’d be over your honeymoon phase, how long it’s been since you got together, like six months?” Hoseok sighed, walking over to the coffee maker because that was the first thing he had to have in the morning.
“Almost seven,” Jeongguk informed him.
“I guess we are compensating for all those years we couldn’t be together,” Taehyung shrugged and it was probably true. They were holding back for so long that now when they were finally together, they just couldn’t get enough of each other.
“Even though it’s annoying, I am really happy for you, guys,” Hoseok smiled sincerely, preparing his iced Americano.
No matter what others members said and how they teased the two youngest, they were truly happy to see them like this, so at ease and just genuinely happy and enjoying life.
Hoseok and Jimin took their breakfast and went to the table while Jeongguk and Taehyung continued so the three remaining members could eat when they woke up as well. Jeongguk was standing by the stove, making egg sandwiches with Taehyung standing behind him, arms wrapped around his waist and nuzzling face in his neck, occasionally kissing it. It was a picture perfect domestic scene.
“It’s only eight in the morning and I wanna throw up,” Seokjin said when he walked in, commenting on the sweet scene.
“We made breakfast, hyung,” Taehyung grinned at the elder.
“In that case, you are forgiven, please continue,” Seokjin grinned back, snatching plate with food that Jeongguk offered him.
Yoongi and Namjoon came just when they finished cooking and so they all sat and ate together.
“I can’t believe we have real live shows in just few weeks,” Jimin said, finishing his coffee. They were busy rehearsing for the upcoming concerts in Los Angeles, first ones in front of the live audience after almost two years.
“I am really nervous, but it is gonna be great,” Hoseok smiled excitedly. They were all anxious to get back on stage, nervous that they wouldn’t be able to keep up after so long, but happy to meet their fans again and that was their driving force even on days when they were exhausted.
“Thanks for the breakfast, it was delicious,” Seokjin thanked the two youngest members, collecting the dirty dishes, taking it on himself to put them in the dishwasher.
“I am gonna take a shower,” Jeongguk got up, stretching up.
“I am going with you,” Taehyung jumped to his feet, eager to steal some alone moment with his boyfriend before they had to head to the company for their responsibilities.
“Please, just don’t fuck there!” Jimin called after them.
“Can’t promise anything!” Taehyung called back. They were often teased like this, on the other hand, the complaints of their members weren’t completely baseless.
They didn’t fuck but they ended up giving each other a blow job under the warm stream of water. What a way to start the day.

Taehyung’s heat was coming soon, he was glad that it would be at least a month before their departure to L.A., otherwise he couldn’t really function. They had responsibilities when he was going to be in pre-heat and that was always pain in the ass, but he didn’t complain since Jeongguk was going to be with him the whole time. For the heat itself, they were going to be in the maknae’s apartment, Namjoon helped them little bit, convincing the company so Taehyung didn’t have to be in the company apartment. Their boss and staff members still didn’t know about them, but because of certain decision the couple has made, it was inevitable that they’d find out soon.
About three weeks before the heat would come, Taehyung and Jeongguk called a group meeting because there was something huge they needed to discuss.
“We want to mate,” Jeongguk said as he and Taehyung stood in front of the other five men: “And we wanna do it on Tae’s next heat.”
“You…wow,” Jimin got out, staring at the couple in disbelieve. It wasn’t completely unexpected, but it was still very fast.
“Um, congrats?” Yoongi offered and in his language it meant that he was with them.
“I don’t wanna be that guy,” Seokjin spoke: “But are you sure about this? I mean…you haven’t been together for too long, most couples mate after years of relationship and you have been together for just few months.”
“We are sure,” Taehyung reassured him, sharing brief look with Jeongguk: “Believe me, we’ve talked about it a lot, it’s not some spontaneous decision.”
“I am with Jin-hyung on this one,” Namjoon jumped in: “You guys are still very young, you can just be together without mating, that can wait.”
“We don’t wanna wait,” Jeongguk protested with determination: “All we did was waited for years, just waiting and holding back. We are sure about our decision.”
He squeezed Taehyung’s hand. They were aware that this was big and life changing decision, but they were sure about their feelings for each other and they were ready to make it official. They could never imagine being with anyone else, they were just right for each other and every day they’ve spent together for the past months was just beautiful.
“We don’t see in your heads,” Seokjin sighed: “If you are sure about this then…I guess you should do it.”
“That is so great,” Jimin clapped, ever the supportive friend when he got over the initial shock.
“Why we are telling you this is not only because we don’t wanna make this decision without you but…because we are gonna need your help,” Taehyung bit his lip.
“We need to tell the company,” Namjoon sighed knowingly. Hiding a relationship was one thing, but once they mated, everyone would find out about them, not just the company but also the public, so they needed to ask the permission if they could do it. They believed that the company wouldn’t be able to separate them at this point, the worst that could happen would be that they’d be banned from mating anytime soon and even though that would suck, they’d still be together and that was the only thing they cared about at the end of the day.
“We are with you, we support you,” Yoongi reassured them and the others nodded in agreement, glancing at Namjoon to hear the final word.
“I will call meeting with the company,” the leader sighed: “There is no guarantee that they will allow the mating, but at least they will finally know about you.”
Taehyung and Jeongguk were super nervous, but at the same time happy that they would stop hiding for real very soon. They were sure about their decision, even though they were still very young, they were both positive that there was no one better for them. They had years to really get to know each other and develop deep bond, it wasn’t some brief infatuation as it sometimes happened with others. They knew that what they had was real.

They were really nervous when the company called the meeting with the whole group. Everything important had to be discussed together because their decision concerned their group mates too.
“So you have been together for seven months?” Bang-PD looked at them.
“Yes,” Taehyung nodded, squeezing Jeongguk’s hand under the table.
“You know that relationships inside the group are forbidden?”
“We know,” Jeongguk said, slightly guiltily to show that they weren’t happy about breaking the rules and deceiving the boss and the whole company.
“Exceptions can be made,” Yoongi jumped in, ready to fight for the two youngest members.
“It can really hurt the group,” the boss pointed out.
“We’ve known about them for a while and talked about it, hyung,” Namjoon spoke: “In all those months, they have been nothing but professional when it comes to work.”
“I don’t doubt they can maintain professionalism, you have been in the industry for years. There is always the possibility that it won’t work out though.”
“We are sure we could remain friends even if that happened,” Taehyung quickly said: “We have been friends for years and we have respect for each other, it wouldn’t influence the group.”
“There’s also the question of how the fans and public would react,” Bang Si-hyuk sighed.
“We don’t really care about public, they always judge and don’t like something,” Yoongi pointed out: “We only really care about our fans, but I don’t think it will be a problem. Many have believed for years that Jeongguk and Taehyung are together and even those who don’t would surely support them and the group when it gets out. And those who don’t, we don’t care about them.”
“True, we don’t need such fans,” Jimin nodded: “Even if we lost thousands of fans because of this then we will gain new ones, there are millions of ARMYs, thousands are nothing. Besides, we don’t need such fans, we only want those who support all of us no matter what.”
“If people see they are together and happy, I believe they will accept them,” Hoseok nodded in support.
“Once you do this, there is no coming back,” the boss looked at the couple: “Even if most people accepted you, it will still be a huge thing and there will be backlash.”
“We can deal with anything,” Namjoon replied for them: “We will do that as we always have, together.”
Bang Si-hyuk looked around the meeting room as if to scan every member and see if someone had any doubts or protests. But he only saw support and determination. He knew there would be aftermath that the company would have to deal with, they were the biggest group in the world, but he didn’t want to ruin someone’s happiness only for business.
“I will have to talk about it with the rest of the company, it is not only my decision to make,” he eventually said.
“That is more than enough, hyung,” Taehyung reassured him with a wide smile. If they had his support, they knew the rest should be persuaded easily.

“Do you have everything you need?” Jimin wondered as he watched Jeongguk packing Taehyung’s stuff. The omega was currently in the living room, snuggled with Hoseok because he was in pre-heat, but it was time for them to leave and go to his apartment.
“I think so, I stopped at my apartment yesterday and made stocks so we don’t have to go out and I already spent one heat with him to know what to expect, I am gonna take care of him,” the maknae reassured him.
“I don’t doubt you will,” Jimin smiled and then added with a smirk: “You are gonna fuck most of the time anyway, I am sure you are more than capable of that.”
“Yeah, we have practice,” the alpha snickered.
Jimin watched Jeongguk in silence for a while, getting slightly emotional because he couldn’t believe that they were really doing this. The company gave them green light to mate and made a plan of how to go about it once it got to public. They decided not to make any official statements, they were just going to wait until someone noticed and only then they would deal with it.
“So you are really doing it, huh? Mating, I mean,” Jimin broke the silence just when Jeongguk zipped up the bag.
“Yeah,” Jeongguk looked at him: “We haven’t changed our minds and since even the company agreed to it, we don’t wanna wait. I know it seems fast but…”
“It’s not,” the beta shrugged: “You haven’t been dating for that long, but you have been in love for years, that counts.”
“Thanks for always supporting us,” the alpha mumbled. He wasn’t really good at heartfelt conversations, but Jimin has always been there for him and Taehyung when they needed it, so he wanted to let him know that they were really grateful.
“I am just glad it worked out for you,” Jimin smiled sincerely: “It was exhausting and sad sometimes, I am glad that you finally just gave in and got together, you have been really happy and I believe that you will make it work, if you feel that it’s the right thing to do then no one else should have any say in that.”
“Thanks again,” Jeongguk smiled, grabbing the bag to get Taehyung away from the shared dorm. It was clear it was just matter of hours before his heat would kick off and in all honesty, he didn’t want him to be around anyone at that state. He was possessive of his omega, sue him.
He and Jimin got to the living room and he headed immediately to Taehyung and Hoseok, ruffling the omega’s hair.
“Ready to go, baby?” he asked softly, always even sweeter when Taehyung was in this state.
“Yeah, let’s go,” Taehyung nodded vigorously, more than happy to be alone with his alpha, his future mate. He entangled himself from Hoseok and got up, pressing himself to Jeongguk instead.
“Well, I guess that the next time we see you, you will be mated,” Seokjin looked at the pair, slightly emotional when he remembered that they were just kids when they all met and now they were making such huge step in their lives.
“Don’t go too crazy,” Hoseok grinned teasingly, but he knew the comment was useless. He was a beta, but he knew enough about heats and ruts to know that when alphas and omegas spent them together, it was indeed very crazy.
Jeongguk grabbed their stuff and they said one last goodbye before they headed to the garages. Already in the car, he could smell Taehyung’s sweet scent getting stronger and he knew the night was already going to be wild.
They ate in the dorm so they didn’t need to anymore, Jeongguk still asked if Taehyung wanted something when they got to his apartment. He put Bam in a dog hotel, it was better if he wasn’t there, he already had one pup to take care of for the next few days, he didn’t need two.
Taehyung didn’t want anything but when Jeongguk told him he got an ice cream, he happily accepted it because he already started feeling hot as the heat started kicking off. As always, he was clingy, so he ate his portion on Jeongguk’s lap and then stayed sitting here, just hugging him, before Jeongguk suggested they should go take a shower.
They went straight to bed after that, even though it was still quite early, but Taehyung was happy to get more cuddles so they just lied with music playing in the background.
When they were talking about their mating, they decided to leave it for when the heat was almost over. Taehyung told Jeongguk that he wanted to remember it, he didn’t want his head to be clouded with heat, it was a huge thing for both of them so he didn’t want to be out of it. So at first, they were just going to focus on the heat itself.
As expected, they weren’t even asleep when Taehyung’s scent got stronger and he started fidgeting and soon also whining, getting needy. And so Jeongguk did what was needed to relieve the poor omega in heat, getting him off twice even before he finally thrusted inside him and fucked him into the mattress. The next day was wild, there were moments of peace when they ate something or just cuddled, watched movies or played videogames, but Taehyung was getting needy at most random times, practically pouncing on the alpha, whining and teasing until he got what he wanted.
“When do you think we should do it?” Jeongguk asked, kissing Taehyung’s shoulder. It was already night and they were lying naked after another wild round of sex with Jeongguk spooning the elder.
“I can feel it is getting weaker,” Taehyung replied, referring to the heat: “I think tomorrow evening we can do it.”
“Alright,” Jeongguk nodded, squeezing the other even tighter, mind swimming with thoughts of what was going to happen in less than twenty four hours. It still sounded so surreal, even in his own head. He has watched Taehyung dating different people over the years, he has dated some too, and he was always dreading the moment when someone would come and steal Taehyung’s heart. But it never happened and now he was the one who was able to call him his and after tomorrow, it was going to become official and they were going to be connected for life.
“You haven’t changed your mind, have you?” Taehyung said almost inaudibly.
“Of course not, why would you think that?” Jeongguk frowned, surprised to hear that.
“I don’t know, just…maybe you have second thoughts since we haven’t been together for too long,” Taehyung explained and then went off: “You know that I can be annoying and whiny, what if I start getting on your nerves? What if there is someone better for you, what if-“
“Tae, baby,” Jeongguk interrupted his rant and turned him around so they were facing each other. He put fingers under the omega’s chin to make their eyes meet before he said with dead serious expression: “We have known each other for years so I know you. I know all your sides, the good and bad ones just like you know mine. We know what to expect from each other, we know how moody we can be, yet it never made us give up on each other and that is what makes me sure we are doing the right thing. If I thought you were annoying, I would have never fallen in love with you. I have waited for so long, so don’t you dare doubting us now, you hear me?”
“You’re right,” Taehyung got out, emotional from the short speech because Jeongguk wasn’t the most eloquent person, but whenever he spoke about his feelings, it just hit differently. He cupped the alpha’s cheek and smiled: “I love you, I have loved you for years and I never really wanted anyone else. I am not doubting us, I guess…I just still can’t believe that we are really allowed to be together and do this, you know?”
“I know, I can’t believe it either sometimes,” Jeongguk reassured him: “But it is real and every day when I’m with you I am reminded of that. I could never get tired of you, believe me, I’ve tried to move on for years when I was hopeless because of the company’s policy but I never could.”
“So we are really doing it, we are gonna become mates,” Taehyung breathed out.
“You bet,” Jeongguk grinned happily.
“I can’t wait to have your mark on me, I want everyone to see who I belong to and I don’t care how many people will be against us.”
“Screw everyone who doesn’t like it, this is our life,” Jeongguk nodded. This has become his philosophy over the years, he grew a lot more confident and didn’t really care anymore what people said or thought and it applied especially on this situation. He didn’t care what people were going to say about him and Taehyung because at the end of the day, it was no one’s business and they were happy together and that was something that no one could take away from them.
They fell asleep snuggled together, giddy, nervous but at the same time calm about what was to come.
The next day was a lot calmer and Taehyung’s heat was slowly ending so they were doing pretty much the same things they’d do if they were alone.
Jeongguk cooked a proper dinner for them in the evening and they ate together before they went to take a shower, kissing slowly under the water.
“So are we gonna do this?” Jeongguk pulled back from the kiss, looking at Taehyung for one last confirmation. It was something they couldn’t just easily back from once it happened so they had to be absolutely sure about it and both be on board.
“Let’s do it, let’s become mates,” Taehyung nodded with slightly dreamy expression, still not really believing that it was happening. He was going to mate and create everlasting bond with the alpha that has owned his heart for years.

“I am so happy for you!” Jimin shrieked, rushing to the pair and hugging them: “And I am so proud, who cares about the reaction and consequences, you did what you wanted.”
“Well, let’s hope the consequences are not very bad,” Namjoon pointed out, but then smiled at the couple: “Congrats, guys.”
In the next days, the others were constantly teasing Taehyung and Jeongguk because they were even clingier and more in love than before, but they didn’t mind in the slightest because they just felt so good.
The time for them to go to the USA came and everyone started thinking about the upcoming shows and forgot about the newly formed couple.
“Gosh, I just can’t wait to be back on stage and it is sold out!” Jeongguk sighed happily as he was sitting next to Taehyung in the plane taking them to the States.
“I am really nervous, it’s been so long since we’ve performed like this, but it is gonna be awesome,” Taehyung hummed, putting head on Jeongguk’s shoulder.
“Well, we are gonna have a bit of fun before the shows,” Jeongguk reminded him of their plans.
“True, I can’t wait for the concert,” Taehyung grinned. They have made some plans for their time out of Korea that the company obviously knew about and agreed to because it was clear that after they were finally seen in public together, everyone would find out about their little secret.
Just few days later there were news all around the world.
