Chapter Text
“Sorry, Mr. Bucky? Mr. Winter Soldier? Mr. …Barnes?”
Bucky turned around, confused for a moment then realizing who was talking to him, his eyes widened.
“You’re Tony’s kid aren’t you?”
“Well, Spider-Man but yeah,”
“Peter? What’s happening?” Tim asked over comms.
“Hold on, I’ll explain in a second,” he turned back to Bucky, “What are you doing here?”
“Could say the same to you, last I heard you were in space,”
“I was, but I think I traveled dimensions or something, which means you did too,”
“Peter pick up, what’s going on?”
“The guy, I know him,” Peter said to Tim, “He’s a friend from work, one of the Avengers I told you about,”
“Avengers?”
“They’re the superhero team, it doesn’t matter I’ll tell you later but can I bring him to the cave?”
“Uh, I mean I guess? You’re sure we can trust him?
“Definitely,”
”Alright, but don’t go back that way you came, we need to be more subtle this time. I’ll direct you,”
He turned back to Bucky who was looking quite confused.
“Let’s go,”
“Where? And why?”
“No time to explain, follow me!” Peter said, following Tim’s directions over coms, “I’ve always wanted to say that,” he added with a grin. Peter caught Bucky rolling his eyes as they made their way towards a sewer opening in yet another dark alleyway.
“Okay, here’s the tricky part,” Tim said, It’s easy to get lost down here so just listen carefully,”
As they made their way through the dimly lit sewer, Peter felt a familiar buzz in his head.
“Hey Tim, remember that spidey sense thing I told you about?” Peter said.
“The one that tells you when there’s danger nearby?”
“Yeah, well it’s going off,”
Just then, he heard a splash from one of the tunnels followed by a low rumbling growl. Bucky raised his gun, aiming at the tunnel.
“Okay, uh yeah that’s Killer Croc, one of our rogues. Just quickly and quietly go through the second tunnel on your right,” Tim said, “We’re not looking for a fight right now,”
Peter motioned for Bucky to lower his gun. They silently continued through the tunnels, a little more on edge than before. They were only walking for ten more minutes before reaching a hatch in the ceiling. Climbing through, Peter found himself next to a cliff beside a deserted road. As Bucky climbed out of the hatch, the cliff wall slid open revealing a tunnel. Tim stood at the end, arms crossed.
“Tim, stop showing off!” a voice shouted from inside.
“I’m not showing off, I’m opening the door!” Tim shouted back.
“Yeah, standing all dramatic in front of our really cool yet still unnecessary cliff door,”
“It’s not-” Tim sighed, “Come on in Peter, and- what was your name?”
“James Barnes,” Bucky replied.
“Your first name is James??” Peter said.
“Did you actually think my first name was Bucky?”
“Well Captain America always called you that and Mr. Stark only said you were the Winter Soldier,”
“Isn’t he your friend?” Tim asked, “How do you not know his name?”
“Well technically we only met, like, once before,” Peter said, “At an airport,”
“You know what, I’m not gonna ask,” Tim remarked.
They continued to the Batcave where a girl stood, leaning against one of the cars. She wore a purple suit, somewhat similar to the one Batman wore. Her blonde hair was mostly covered by a hood.
“Peter, this is Stephanie or Spoiler,” Tim introduced.
“Hey,” Stephanie said with a wave, “Enjoying this dimension?”
“It's alright,” Peter replied with a shrug.
“Where’s Cass?” Tim asked Stephanie.
“Where do you think?” she retorted.
“No one knows?”
“No one knows.”
Just then, an alert sounded from the Batcave computer.
“What’s that?” Bucky asked.
“Looks like another one of your friends just showed up,” Stephanie said as they all went to the computer.
“What do you mean?” Peter inquired.
“Well after you showed up Bruce contacted a friend from the Justice League, our big superhero team, who had dealt with interdimensional travel before,” Tim said, “We set up a system to detect and traces of any interdimensional energy nearby,”
Tim clicked on the alert which led to a map of the city and a little red dot near the water.
“Pull up the cameras,” Stephanie said. Tim did so, flipping through them until the person was visible, “Peter, do you know them?”
“Yeah, yeah I do,”
